REAL LIFE consortium for horn and fixed media

A polystylistic conceptual composition for horn and fixed media, Real Life seeks to evoke and explore our internal experience in considering the manifold  questions and realities we all face. It is my intent as the composer to combine recorded spoken word, virtual instruments, and live solo horn into a musical reflection of the tension between ambiguity and doubt on one hand, and faith and courage on the other. Rather than present these ideas in a melodramatic or romantic light,  I hope to explore the exact moment of tension one experiences when weighing a certainty against an uncertainty and expand that ambiguity into a kind of sonic pastiche that asks the listener to engage with non-resolution.
